Man remanded in connection with cannabis growhouse raid

A Lithuanian man has been remanded in custody in connection with an €80,000 drugs seizure near Castlerea in Co. Roscommon yesterday evening.

A Lithuanian man has been remanded in custody in connection with an €80,000 drugs seizure near Castlerea in Co. Roscommon yesterday evening.

Gardaí arrested the 25-year-old man after they discovered 100 cannabis plants at a growhouse in Ballinaheglish last night.

Andrius Kalinda with an address at Ballymaccurley, Ballinaheglish was charged today under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and appeared at a sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court this afternoon.

He has been remanded in custody at Castlerea Prison to appear at Harristown District Court again on Friday.

The planned search of this house in Ballinahelglish is part of an ongoing operation by the Roscommon Longford Divisional drugs unit to target the cultivation of cannabis in the area.
