A woman has been charged with importing £340,000 (€470,640) worth of cannabis, becoming the ninth person charged in connection with a major international drug trafficking operation.

A woman has been charged with importing £340,000 (€470,640) worth of cannabis, becoming the ninth person charged in connection with a major international drug trafficking operation.

The 24-year-old, who was arrested in Birmingham on Wednesday, was last night also charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis, possession with intent to supply £340,000 (€470,640) worth of cannabis recovered by police at an address in Ballywalter, Co Down last month, and converting criminal property.

She is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ court today.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop of the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: “There are more arrests to follow. This investigation is complex, but we are vigorously pursuing all lines of inquiry to gather all evidence against those allegedly involved. This is the ninth person to be charged in connection with this investigation.”
