Gardaí appeal for information on cars believed to be used in Eddie Hutch attack

Officers say they believe a large garda presence in Dublin last night, led to the killers of Eddie Hutch Senior abandoning their getaway car.

The 58-year-old was gunned down at his home on Poplar Road in North Strand last night.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information on three vehicles believed to have been involved in the attack, a silver 3 series BMW with registration 06-G-8965, and a black Peugeot car, and a dark Isuzu jeep or Toyota Land Cruiser.

A bottle of petrol was found in the BMW, suggesting those involved may have intended to burn out the car.

Assistant Commissioner Jack Nolan is appealing to anyone with information on the cars to come forward.

"A full forensic, technical and DNA examination has been conducted on the silver BMW and all of the contents.

"We would appeal to any retail outlets who sold petrol to anybody in a drinks type bottle, to please get in touch with the incident room at Store Street Garda Station."
