Lawyers for the former chairman of Anglo are back in the High Court today as they attempt to stop his criminal trial from going ahead.

Lawyers for the former chairman of Anglo are back in the High Court today as they attempt to stop his criminal trial from going ahead.

Sean Fitzpatrick is facing 27 charges under the Companies Act.

21 of the 27 charges faced by Mr. Fitzpatrick accuse him of making a misleading, false or deceptive statement to Anglo’s auditors Ernst & Young.

The remaining charges accuse him of furnishing false information between 2002 to 2007.

His trial is due to begin in October.

Sean Fitzpatrick is seeking to overturn a decision by Judge Martin Nolan not to postpone his October trial due to negative publicity.
