Gardaí have charged a 16-year-old youth following a serious assault in Dublin earlier in the week.

Gardaí have charged a 16-year-old youth following a serious assault in Dublin earlier in the week.

He is due to appear before the Children Court, in Smithfield this morning.

At 1am last Monday, a man received serious injuries to his face after an altercation at the junction of Dame Lane and Trinity Street in the capital.

He was taken to St James's Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí at Pearse St are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
