Appeal for information in search for the Disappeared

The Head of the Investigation team searching for the so-called 'Disappeared' is urging anyone with any information - no matter how small - to contact the commission.

Yesterday remains believed to be those of Brendan Megraw were discovered in a bog in Kells, Co Meath, following a 15-year-long investigation.

The 23-year-old was abducted, murdered and secretly buried in 1978 by the IRA, who claimed that he admitted to being a British uncover agent.

Head of the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains Geoff Knupfer said six victims are still missing, but the remains of 10 people have so far been found.

"We've received a lot of information both from the Republican movement and other sources and obviously where appropriate, that's been acted upon.

"There are probably other people who do have information who are still around - still alive - and we would urge anyone who has any information, however trivial they believe it be, to get in ouch with us."

"It could be just the one piece of the jigsaw we're missing."
