A woman has died in a hillwalking accident in County Kerry.

Woman dies after fall on Stradbally Mountain

A woman has died in a hillwalking accident in County Kerry.

The woman was with a group of around 30 others when she slipped and fell on Stradbally Mountain near Anascaul.

Bad weather hampered efforts by a coastguard helicopter to recover the body.

Kerry Mountain Rescue and Dingle coast guard recovered the woman, who was in her forties, shortly before 7pm this evening.

Her remains have been taken to Tralee General Hospital.
