In the North, detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a shop on Albertbridge Road in east Belfast this morning.

In the North, detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a shop on Albertbridge Road in east Belfast this morning.

At around 7.40am, a man armed with a knife entered the shop and proceeded to climb over the counter and removed cigarettes and cash, placing them in a black recycling box.

He then made off on foot in the direction of Glenmore Street.

The robber is described as around 5' 10" tall of stocky build and was wearing a hoody with the hood up and a baseball cap underneath.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
