Gardaí in Lucan are investigating the discovery of the body this evening.

The body of a male in his 30s was found at Griffeen Valley Park, Lucan after 8pm with gunshot injuries.

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.

The Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald has condemned the attack and described it as a "callous disregard for human life displayed by people intent on murder and mayhem".

The Justice Minister also said every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything in around the Grifeen Valley Park area this evening to contact Lucan Garda Station on 01- 6667300, The Garda Confidential Telephone line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
