Update 10.48pm: A man aged 66 was sitting in the car in Rathbeale Crescent in Swords when the gunman opened fire, shortly after 7pm tonight.

Latest: Gunmen target man known to gardaí in Dublin housing estate

Update 10.48pm: A man aged 66 was sitting in the car in Rathbeale Crescent in Swords when the gunman opened fire, shortly after 7pm tonight.

The intended target - who is known to gardaí - is understood to have escaped injury.

Earlier:

Shots have been fired at a car in a housing estate in Dublin this evening.

The incident took place shortly after 7pm in Rathbeale Crescent in Swords.

A man was in the car at the time but it is understood he did not sustain any injuries.

It is believed the shooter escaped in a black Audi which was later found on fire at the back of Dublin Airport.
