A man has died in a road accident in Co Kerry this evening.

A man has died in a road accident in Co Kerry this evening.

Gardaí in Killarney are investigating the single-vehicle collision which occurred outside the village of Sneem, Co Kerry.

The accident occurred at around 6.45pm on the Cahirciveen to Sneem Road, around three miles outside Sneem.

The motorcyclist who was travelling along the road came off the motorcycle and collided with a ditch.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains have been removed to Tralee Hospital where a post mortem is expected to take place tomorrow.

No one else was injured in the collision.

The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination but has since reopened.

Gardaí in Killarney are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them in Killarney on 064 6671160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
