Man dressed in women's clothes robs cash from Dublin businessman

A man, dressed in women's clothing and armed with what is believed to be a handgun, was involved in a robbery in Dublin today.

The incident occurred at Terenure Road East, Dublin at approximately 4.45am this morning.

A 44-year-old businessman who was in the process of lodging cash at a bank deposit box in Rathgar Village was approached and threatened by the man. He was then confronted by a second man.

Both men drove away from the area, in the direction of Terenure, in a car which had been parked at the scene, and has since been recovered in the Harolds Cross area.

The car, with a false registration number 12 CE 1549 was a silver Hyundai i40 with a taxi sign on the roof, but has no markings on the doors of the vehicle.

A large sum of cash was taken during the incident, and the business man received no injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and particularly appealing for anyone who may have passed the ATM machine at the Bank on Terenure Road East between 4.30am and 4.45am and who may have seen any unusual behaviour or perhaps saw this taxi car earlier this morning to contact them in Terenure on 01 6666400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
