Man to appear in court chared with Waterford arson attacks

A 19-year-old man will appear in court on Tuesday in connection with a number of arson attacks in Waterford.

Gerard Halloran was charged with two counts of arson at a special sitting of Waterford District court last night.

Gerard Halloran, with an undisclosed address, appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court, charged with two counts of arson at St Saviours GAA club Ballybeg and at the Ballybeg Youth Resource Centre last Saturday.

Mr Halloran is also charged with the burglary of St Saviours GAA Club on the same date.

Judge Gerard Furlong granted him free legal aid.

The State has objected to a request for bail, and has reserved its position on the matter.

Judge Furlong remanded Mr Halloran in custody to St Patricks Detention Centre in Dublin, to appear before Waterford District Court again on Tuesday.
