Jury deliberations in Mark Nash trial to continue on Monday

Jury deliberations in the double murder trial of Mark Nash will go into a third day on Monday.

The 42-year-old with last addresses at Prussia Street and Clonliffe Road, Dublin denies killing Sylvia Shields and Mary Callanan at Grangegorman in March 1997.

The 11 jurors began their deliberations yesterday afternoon - however there were some further legal directions today from trial judge Mr Justice Carroll Moran.

Mark Nash is alleged to have stabbed 61-year-old Mary Callanan and 60-year-old Sylvia Shields at their home in March 1997.

The women were living in sheltered accommodation attached to St Brendan's Psychiatric Hospital at the time.

The case has been at trial for nearly three months.

The jury, which is down to 11 members, will resume their deliberations on a verdict on Monday.
