Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the shooting dead of a 45-year-old man in Dublin last night.

Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the shooting dead of a 45-year-old man in Dublin last night.

Andy Connors was shot several times in the upper body at his home in Old Pound in Boherboy in Saggart at around 11pm.

The father of six - who was a member of the local travelling community - his wife, four of his children and niece were in the house at the time.

The gunman, who was wearing a balaclava, used a handgun during the attack.
