Mountjoy inmates gain access to prison roof

Prisoners at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison were at the centre of a security alert overnight.

An alarm was raised when two inmates gained access to the prison roof just after 6.30pm.

Specialist staff arrived shortly afterwards to negotiate with the men who came down just after 10pm.

The Irish Prison Service has confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
