Irish troops are to remain on the Golan Heights.
The Defence Minister told the Dáil that the 133 Irish soldiers deployed on a UNDOF mission on the border between Syria and Israel will continue to serve there.
The rotation of the troops will also go ahead as planned next month.
Minister Simon Coveney said he is happy that the mission is one of peace and security.
"I am satisfied that we can continue to contribute to the mission. On that basis, I have advised the Government today that the Defence Forces will continue to participate in the mission, and the rotation as planned will proceed," he said.
"That new deployment will commence next month."
