Update - 10.52am: An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Cameron Reilly.

The body of the 18-year-old college student was found in a field in Dunleer in Co Louth on May 26.

A post-mortem exam revealed he had been strangled.

The first-year business student was last seen with a group of friends the night before.

This morning Aaron Connolly with an address at Willistown, Drumcar, Dunleer appeared before Drogheda District Court charged with his murder.

Detective Sergeant Feargal O’Toole told the court the accused made no reply when charged at Drogheda Garda Station yesterday evening with the murder of Cameron Reilly at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer on May 26.

Judge John Coughlan asked if the defendant was over 18 and was told that he is.

Mr Connolly was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court in Dublin via video link next Thursday.

The 18-year-old, who was dressed in a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms, looked visibly upset during the brief hearing.

An 18-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning in connection with the murder of Cameron Reilly in County Louth.

The body of the Dundalk Institute of Technology student was discovered on land off the Ardee Road in Dunleer on May 26.

An 18-year-old was detained yesterday in connection with the investigation and questioned at Drogheda Garda station.

He is due to appear before Drogheda District Court at 10am this morning.
