Gardaí are investigating a fatal stabbing in Dublin.

The stabbing took place at Robinsons Court, Cork Street, Dublin 8, this afternoon.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at 2.30pm.

A man in his 60's had received severe stab wounds and was taken to St James Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The scene is currently being preserved for a technical examination and the offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.

Investigations are ongoing and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
