OECD: Irish doctors among highest paid in world

International figures appear to show doctors in Ireland are among the best paid in the world.

Statistics revealed by the OECD show specialists earned an average of just under €164,500 in 2014.

That is one of the highest figures among the countries surveyed.

However, the Irish Hospital Consultants Association insists the figures contain inconsistencies.

It claims some of the salary amounts included are gross, while others are net, and the pay in some countries is not comprarable to the Irish system.
