A male motorcyclist has died in a road accident in Dublin today, gardaí have confirmed.

A male motorcyclist has died in a road accident in Dublin today, gardaí have confirmed.

The incident - involving the motorcyclist, a car and a van - happened on York Road in Dun Laoghaire at around 11.45am this morning.

The man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, were he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem is expected to take place.

The road has been sealed off for forensic collision investigations. Diversions are in place.

It is the sixth fatality on Irish roads since Friday, and the third involving a motorcyclist.
