Gardaí are investigating a fatal road accident in Kilcrohane, Co Cork at approximately 8.05pm last night.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road accident in Kilcrohane, Co Cork at approximately 8.05pm last night.

An 82-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a car. He was taken to Cork University Hospital and pronounced dead a shortly before midnight.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Bantry Garda Station on 027-20860, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
