Your quick guide to the next week of weather

It certainly won't be warm around Ireland for the next few days, but we can look forward to some light winds and relatively dry days, forecasters have predicted.

According to Accuweather, Dublin will start clouding up on Tuesday, with persistent rain by Saturday - but at least the cloud cover should help see highest temperatures climb to double figures by Friday.

Wrap up warm though - those lows of 2°C look ominous.

Metrogroup is a little more optimistic, predicting "the chance of the odd shower" on Tuesday for Leinster, with just "light rain likely to linger" on Thursday.

Further west in Galway, temperatures won't quite hit those 11°C highs, hovering around the 9°C mark. The good news is that it shouldn't be as cold, with only Friday predicted to drop to at 2°C.

As we move further south, Accuweather paints a brighter picture for Cork, although those low temperatures will hard to ignore. Again, prepare for some consistent rain by Friday.

There have been fears that a nasty area of low pressure could cross the Atlantic from the US and lead to some severe weather here.

However, Metcheck.com has forecast that we should avoid the worst of this, as the epicentre is shunted out towards the north.

Taking a longer-term view, fears of another cold snap seem to be unfounded, as far as November of December are concerned at least, with Accuweather predicting that daytime lows will never even reach the 0°C mark.
