A 41-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Margot Seery in Dublin 21 years ago.

A 41-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Margot Seery in Dublin 21 years ago.

Howard Kelly, with an address at Osprey Apartments, Naas, Co Kildare was arrested this morning.

Margot Seery died at her Dublin home in Kenilworth Square on October 8, 1994.

An inquest found she died of asphyxiation from choking. On September 16 last year, her body was exhumed from Rathkeale Cemetery for a post mortem.

A man was subsequently arrested but he was released without charge and a file was prepared for the DPP.

This morning just after 9am Howard Kelly was arrested in Kimmage in Dublin and charged with her murder

Det Garda Gabriel Duffy told Dublin District Court that Mr Kelly made no reply to the charge.

The 41-year-old has been remanded in custody to Cloverhill prison until his next court appearance on Wednesday.

Judge Michael Walsh heard he has mental health difficulties and has directed he receive appropriate treatment while in prison.
