A major conference examining ways to help Ireland set out a vision for an age-friendly society will take place in Dublin today.
Hugh O'Connor from AFI, says key issues will be discussed at today's event.
He said: "We need to be thinking and looking at things like housing to support independent living, health - where out health services are located - the our villages, towns and cities are set up.
"Our transport systems, do they support older people?
"Are our police, our Garda Síochána, connected into the idea of an aging population and a population that wants to feel safe in their own homes."
