A 40-year-old Irish citizen has died in Manhattan after part of a crane reportedly fell on top of him this afternoon.

A 40-year-old Irish citizen has died in Manhattan after part of a crane reportedly fell on top of him this afternoon.

The man was trapped when part of a crane collapsed as he was removing items from a construction truck.

A 35-story, mixed-use building including a hotel and 240 dwelling units was being constructed on the site.

The incident occurred at 11.40 am local time. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
