A couple in their 50s have escaped injury after an arson attack in west Belfast.

A couple in their 50s have escaped injury after an arson attack in west Belfast.

The man and woman, both aged 53, were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but were not admitted to hospital.

Police said two cars in the Coolnasilla Park West area were set on fire shortly before 3am.

A nearby house was also damaged.

Detective Constable Philip Cummings from the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area in an around the time of the fire, or anyone who may have information about the incident, to contact detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime branch at Musgrave Police Station on 101."
