Update 12.30pm: Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash at the junction of Adelaide Rd and Earlsfort Tce, Dublin 2 yesterday evening.

A Saab convertible car collided with four male pedestrians at approximately just after 6pm.

The female driver of the car and one pedestrian were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with non life threatening injuries; a second male pedestrian was removed to Tallaght Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The final two pedestrians were taken to St. James Hospital; one of the casualties was subsequently removed to Beaumont Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision or to any motorists with dash cam to contact Pearse St Garda Station on 01- 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Earlier: Two people are fighting for their lives after they were struck by a car in Dublin city centre.

It is understood four others are seriously injured following the crash during rush hour yesterday evening. A silver Saab car flipped onto its side in the incident.

It is understood the car struck a number of pedestrians. The driver is believed to be among the injured. Gardaí are treating the incident as an accident.

It happened at the junction of Adelaide Road and Earlsfort Terrace at a 6.15pm yesterday.

The gender and ages of those affected has not yet been released.

Gardaí were quick to rule out any link to terrorism, saying it was not a hit-and-run and sources were clear there was no link to terrorism.
