FF calls for funding transparency from the North’s political parties
Fianna Fáíl has said political parties in the North need to be more transparent with their funding.
The call comes after it emerged that Sinn Féin had received over $12m (€10.88m) in the last 20 years through donations in the United States.
The party has said donors usually paid for services like drivers, rather than giving money straight into the party's accounts.
However, Fianna Fáil's justice spokesman Niall Collins has said Sinn Fein and others need to be more honest about where their money goes.
“$12m, where did it go? I mean there is no accountability,” said Collins.
“Clearly having read the report in detail, I think there was some reference it was used for the provision for cars in the North of Ireland.”
“There must have been a lot of cars flying around the North of Ireland with $12m.”
