A major search operation off the coast of Donegal will conclude shortly after a man failed to return to shore while swimming near Bundoran yesterday evening.

Colleague keeps watch as search for missing man concludes for tonight

A major search operation off the coast of Donegal will conclude shortly after a man failed to return to shore while swimming near Bundoran yesterday evening.

It is understood the missing man is a member of the Defence Forces.

The Malin Head Coastguard is co-ordinating the operation which involves the Air Corps, the Sligo 118 Rescue Helicopter and the Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat.

In addition around 120 members of the Defence Forces and the Killybegs Coastguard boat joined the search efforts today.
