Back Lane Homeless Hostel is marking 100 years of service today in the presence of President Micheal D Higgins.
The hostel provides shelter for 60 men a night, 18 of whom are long-term residents.
Kerry Anthony is Chief Executive of De Paul Ireland, which runs the hostel she has said pressure needs to be kept on the Government to ensure they deliver on their many promises on homelessness.
“Now we need to see building actually happening because obviously it is going to take time for that to occur,” Ms Anthony said.
“I think in the interim then we need to make sure we have got strategies in place from a medium term perspective,
"Perhaps looking at the issues of rent certainty and then on the short term emergency side of things we need to make sure we are not just offering a bed that we are having a sort of engagement, we are getting support to people to make sure that they are able to move into more stable accommodation as well.”
