The search for missing Offally woman Fiona Pender in a County Laois forest has now been called off.

The search had been focused in a specific part of a forest in Portlaoise since December 8.

Fiona was 25 and seven months pregnant when she disappeared from her flat at Church Street, Tullamore, on Friday 23 August, 1996.

Gardaí say the investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.
