A 55-year-old man has died following a road crash in County Cork.

A 55-year-old man has died following a road crash in County Cork.

The collision between a car and a motorcycle happened at Scartbarry in Watergrass Hill at around 1pm this afternoon.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow morning.

The driver of the car - a woman in her mid 30s and her passenger, an 11-year-old boy - were not injured.

The road was closed this afternoon for a forensic examination but has now reopened.
