A man in his 20s has been killed in a road crash in Co Limerick.

A man in his 20s has been killed in a road crash in Co Limerick.

The two-car collision happened on the N21 Cork to Limerick road at around 12.30pm.

One of the drivers was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body is still at the scene and will be removed to Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick for a post mortem.

The driver of the other car was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were no passengers in either car.

The road has been closed off between O'Rourke's Cross and Charleville while gardaí examine the scene and traffic delays are expected for a number of hours.
