Planned GP cuts 'will constrain' services
GPs are calling on the Government to reduce planned cutbacks which they say will lead to long waiting lists.
The Irish Medical Organisation has said more than €150m has been cut from GP services in recent years, and further cuts will be a "nail in the coffin".
It has now called on the Health Minister James Reilly to explain the cuts.
Chairman of the IMO's GP Committee, Dr Ray Walley, said the cuts are having a major impact on young medics.
Dr Walley said: "Unfortunately the only way we can constrain our costs is by reducing the hours that staff may do, including GPs, and reducing the rates of pay that they may get.
"The result of that is that services will be constrained."
