Inmates climb onto roof of Cloverhill prison

It has been reported that some prisoners have climbed onto the roof of the Cloverhill remand prison.

Prison officers from the adjacent Whatfield prison have been drafted in to help contain the situation at Cloverhill in west Dublin, meaning inmates at Wheatfield have been locked in their cells.

It is believed that the incident started this morning, and there have been major delays in transporting prisoners from the jail to courts today.

Many cases were delayed by more than an hour.
