A man has been found not guilty by reason of insanity of the murder of his neighbour and attempted murder of her daughter two years ago.

James Redmond from the Killinarden estate in Tallaght was having a psychotic episode when he went into their house armed with a shotgun in March 2014.

66-year-old Mary Dargan died from her injuries while her daughter Karina, who was shot in the head, survived the attack.

The jury was told he was hearing voices accusing him of being a paedophile and insulting his family and he will now be assessed in the Central Mental Hospital.
