Garda patrol car rammed in Dublin

Two men have been arrested after a Garda was injured when a patrol car was rammed in Dublin early this morning.

It happened when officers were monitoring a jeep in Hillcrest Park in Glasnevin at around 6am after two men attempted to gain entry into a house in Whitehall and a shop in Santry overnight.

Gardaí signalled the jeep to stop but it failed to do so and rammed the patrol car. An officer was hurt. His injuries are not serious.

The jeep fled the scene. It was intercepted a short time later in Ashbourne in Co Meath.

Two men in their 20s were arrested and are being held at Ashbourne garda station.
