Murder accused man sent forward for trial over Bray killing

A man accused of murdering his mother in Bray, Co. Wicklow has been sent forward for trial.

Lynn Cassidy's body was found at her home in June and it is believed she was beaten to death.

A post mortem carried out following the discovery of Lynn Cassidy's body at her house ,just off the Southern Cross Road in Bray, revealed she met a violent death sometime between Thursday June 26 and Friday June 27.

The mother of four was just two days shy of her 50th birthday.

Her eldest son Bijan Afshar was arrested shortly after her body was found and he appeared in court that weekend charged with her murder.

He was handed a book of evidence earlier today and sent forward for trial before the Central Criminal Court.

The 21-year-old was not in the house when his mother's body was found and he was told today that he must give the DPP at least two weeks notice if he intends to rely on an alibi.
