A woman in her 60s has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Drogheda.

A woman in her 60s has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Drogheda.

It happened at around 8.25pm yesterday evening, on the R166 at Yellowgap, Termonfeckin.

The 63-year-old pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

The occupants of the car were uninjured.

The road is currently closed to traffic and the scene is preserved for a technical examination.

Witnesses are asked to contact Drogheda Garda Station.
