Ireland's electricity prices were the third highest in the EU in the second half of 2014.

According to figures released by Eurostat, the most expensive rates were in Denmark and Germany.

There was a 5.4% increase in household electricity prices in Ireland between the second half of 2013 and the second half of last year.

The lowest rates were in Romania and Hungary.
