Garda senior management to examine new claims from whistleblower McCabe

Gardaí have said fresh allegations about penalty points abuse are being examined by senior management.

It was revealed earlier today that whistleblower, Maurice McCabe, claims more points are being quashed for family and friends of members of the force.

Sergeant McCabe's original allegations that gardaí were routinely abusing their discretionary powers to remove points were upheld by the Guerin report in May.

GSOC will now independently examine the allegations and action will be taken if any wrongdoing is found to have taken place.
