Gatwick to screen for Ebola; prevention measures to be raised again in Dáil

Screening of passengers from areas at high risk of Ebola is being rolled out to Gatwick's North terminal today.

Yesterday, the HSE ruled out Ebola in the case of a woman admitted to the Mater hospital in Dublin.

The HSE said the risk of Ebola being brought to Ireland is low, but that it is taking the issue seriously.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has been declared Ebola-free in what is being described as a "spectacular success story" by the World Health Organisation.

However, Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Trade Brendan Smith said recent deaths from the deadly virus in Spain and Germany showed the need for more stringent measures here.

He said he would be raising the matter in the Dáil later today.
