O’Donnell claims not to know how much he owes bank

Solicitor Brian O'Donnell has told the High Court he has no idea how much he or his wife owes Bank of Ireland.

O'Donnell has denied barricading himself into the Gorse Hill property in Killiney, Dublin at the centre of the trespass proceedings - he has also told the court he simply “locked the door”.

O'Donnell claimed he has been granted a right of residency at Gorse Hill by Vico Ltd since the year 2000, that Bank of Ireland is aware of this and senior managers visited the house.

Mr O'Donnell told the High Court that coverage of the legal battle surrounding the property has become a “circus” and made reference to Vincent Browne leading a “posse running all over the gardens” yesterday.

He added that cars parked at the gates were to keep out the media.

Earlier, representatives of the Bank of Ireland told the court that Mr O'Donnell and his wife have no legal basis for their “Walter Mitty” assertion of a right to stay at the house.
