Siptu denies reports Luas drivers asked for previous pay deals to be re-tabled

Siptu has said reports suggesting Luas drivers are rowing back on their pay claim are entirely inaccurate.

The long-running dispute between workers and the tram operator Transdev shows no signs of abating, with another day of strike action set to go ahead on Wednesday.

It is reported in some newspapers today that SIPTU's asked the company to re-table offers they had previously rejected at the WRC.

However the union's Owen Reidy said the reports were unfounded.

"It's completely not factual at all," he said. "We met with the drivers on Thursday night. They unanimously pledged their support to their elected representatives and the union campaign to improve their pay.

"Where the drivers are at is about 22.5% over five years. The reports in some of the Sunday papers today are completely wrong and incorrect."
