HSE finds psychiatric unit for troubled teen after several days

A teenage girl with serious behavioural problems is to be moved to an adolescent psychiatric unit this evening.

The High Court has heard it has taken the HSE several days to find a suitable bed to detain her.

Up until this evening the teenage girl, who has severe emotional and behavioural problems, has been in a non-secure residential unit.

She has attacked staff, climbed on the roof and run out into traffic - she has also refused food and won't sleep in a bed.

Following a district court hearing this afternoon, the High Court was informed that she is to be moved to an adolescent psychiatric unit.

It heard that it has taken the HSE several days for a suitable placement to be found and only with great difficulty.

The teenage girl will be moved this evening.
