A person has been killed following an explosion in Co Tipperary.

One killed in Nenagh pipe-laying work accident

A person has been killed following an explosion in Co Tipperary.

It happened outside a nursing home on the old N7 Limerick/Dublin Road at around 3.30pm this afternoon, at a works site.

It is believed the explosion happened near gas pipes.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are conducting separate investigations and HSA inspectors will examine the scene.

A Garda spokesman said they would not be releasing details about the deceased until all next of kin were informed.
