Paul Mescal has revealed how he has suggested his older relatives do chores to avoid explicit scenes on the RTÉ series.
The Kildare star told
last night he has been blown away by the success of the show.He said older members of his family have been making attempts to avoid the long love scenes on the hit show: “My granny warned my great aunt that there were a lot of sexy bits and that when she felt those were about to happen she should go off and do something else. In episode two when we started kissing she took the dog out.
“But she underestimated the time it would take and as she came back in we were right in the throes of it all. suggested that a good long chore or a couple of cups of tea would do the trick next time.”
The Irish actor, who was joined by co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones on the show, said he can’t comprehend the phenomenal success of the show as it reaches the 30 million viewer mark. “That’s not even a number I can compute.
It sounds really good and brilliant but it’s not something either of us anticipated. It’s just been good news after good news. It’s crazy.”
His co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones said she is also finding it hard to take in She said: “It’s hard to believe people like it when we’re sitting in our bedrooms. It’s surreal.”
The couple who were also on
this week also opened up about filming their love scenes.Actor Richard E Grant has also been taken by the RTÉ series, tweeting: “Most forensically detailed, emotionally charged series about falling in love, that I’ve ever seen. Daisy & Paul are utterly astonishing. Guaranteed stellar careers. Awe & respect”.
