Chart star Ellie Goulding has revealed how she has found the Royal Family to be “fun” after becoming friends with them – and said they are big champions of British music.
The Burn singer was invited to sing at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding reception in 2011 and earlier this year performed at Prince Harry’s 30th birthday party.
She said she had not developed any additional nerves at performing for them.
Goulding – who is in Puerto Rico performing at this weekend’s Bacardi Triangle event – said: “I’m friends with them, so it’s not like it’s awkward because I don’t know them. So that’s fine. But I think just because it’s performing in such an incredible place it can make it quite surreal. I think that’s the only aspect of it.
“But they’re really good fun, so it’s never been weird for me, it’s always just been fun.”
She said she would be happy to have a royal audience again in the future: “If they ask me again, of course. I’m sure I will at some point.
“I think they’re big fans of British music and I feel lucky that I’m one of the people who gets to represent that at the moment.”
Goulding will take to the stage in a line-up which also includes regular collaborator Calvin Harris, and Kendrick Lamar at Bacardi Triangle which is a three-day music and travel event taking place over the Halloween weekend.
