Sam Claflin has been confirmed to play Finnick Odair in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'.

The 'Snow White and the Huntsman' actor will play the hunk, who won the 65th version of the games, alongside Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne) in the follow up to this year’s ‘The Hunger Games’.

Following months of speculation that the 26-year-old British star would play Finnick, film studio Lionsgate have finally confirmed the deal.

A post on the official 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Facebook page revealed a picture of Sam and attached the accompanying message: "It's official! Please welcome Sam Claflin as Finnick to the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!"

The highly anticipated movie will see Sam's character, who previously won the games for District 4, thrust back into the fighting arena for the 75th games along with previous champions.

Sam first rose to fame with his role as missionary Philip Swift in last year's 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and since he has been in a succession of hit movies including 'Snow White and the Huntsman' alongside Kristen Stewart.

Filming of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is expected to start next month in Atlanta and Hawaii, with Francis Lawrence directing, and the motion picture is scheduled to be released in November 2013.
